Once you arrive at Barcelona Sants Station, you need to switch to the R5 line towards Manresa, operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC). Make sure to get off at the Monistrol de Montserrat station. The R5 trains usually depart every hour, and the journey from Barcelona to Monistrol de Montserrat takes about one hour.

At Monistrol de Montserrat station, you have two options to reach the Montserrat Monastery: either by taking the Cremallera de Montserrat, a rack railway, or by the Aeri de Montserrat, a cable car. The Cremallera leaves directly from the train station, while the Aeri is a short walk away. Both offer scenic views during the ascent and are a unique part of the Montserrat experience.

The total journey time from Sitges to Montserrat, including transfers, is approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on your connections and chosen mode of ascent to the monastery.
