The legend tells that in the Middle Ages, King Alfonso X “The Wise” ordered that wine served in inns be accompanied by some food to prevent alcohol from going to one’s head. This food, usually a slice of ham, cheese, or chorizo, was served on top of the glass as a “cover” to prevent insects or impurities from entering the precious liquid; hence the origin of the word “tapa.”
This is the origin of the tapas that we propose to combine with the history of the Town of Sitges on a fascinating night discovering the centre of this wonderful city and experiencing first-hand the exquisite experience and the most Spanish custom of “Ir de tapas” (Going for tapas)

SITGES TAPAS WALK – FOOD, WINE AND HISTORY.
We’ll begin our Sitges history tour at Sitges Train Station, where we’ll straight away to the first stop, where you will start with a glass of cava and taste some local cheese and serrano ham.
After this stop, we’ll delve into the ritual of “Going for Tapas,” visiting three tapas bars to savour specially prepared menus by local experts. You’ll get to try famous tapas like “pa amb tomaquet,” gildas, and txato. The journey includes tasting traditional Sitges wine, Malvasia, or the classic cava while enjoying tapas and local delicacies, accompanied by stories from our guide about Catalan cuisine and Sitges. We’ll also introduce you to local wines.
The tour ends with a leisurely walk to our final spot, where you can relax and experience the city’s nightlife. Here, choose between a locally made gin-tonic or a glass of cava by the Mediterranean coast, enjoying the warm spring and summer nights.

Our Sitges Tapas Walk starts at Sitges Train Station. Your guide will be waiting for you just before 6 pm, please be 5/10 minutes early so you don’t miss the tour.
Our tour always ends in the centre of Sitges. Just a couple minutes walking from both our meeting location
We strive to cater to all dietary restrictions and allergies. Our team can provide options for vegetarians, pescatarians, as well as those with gluten and lactose intolerance. We can also avoid nuts, seeds, fruits, and shellfish. Please inform us of any specific dietary needs or allergies when booking, and we’ll do our utmost to accommodate you.
While vegans are welcome on our tour, please note that traditional Spanish cuisine may have limited vegan options. Vegans can’t, unfortunately, enjoy 90% of the cuisines on this tour.
In our Sitges Tapas tour, we always keep the groups at a maximum of 10 guests. We do this to make the experience as personal and fun as possible! For private groups we can accommodate larger groups, feel free to get in touch at hola@easycyclingsitges.com
Yes! Of course, everything is included in our tour. We will visit 4 of our favourite restaurants and taste over 9 amazing local tapas and plates with a drink on each bar 🙂
We walk for around 2km but don’t worry, we take it super easy! We will talk about Sitges history and emblematic buildings on the way from bar to bar. The idea here is to enjoy this fantastic town’s food and history, not run a marathon!
No problem! You can reschedule your date or even pass the tickets to someone else. We also offer full refunds if you cancel your booking more than 24 hours before your tour. All bookings cancelled within 24 hours of the tour departure are not refundable.
